Sean arrived on Maui as a pro wave sailor and shaper. Francisco Goya tried one of his early boards and got him hired at Sailboards Maui. There Sean shaped for riders like Bjorn Dunkerbeck, Jason Polakow and Nik Baker, and Bjorn won his first Aloha Classic on one of his boards.
In 1994 he started Quatro with Goya and Jason Prior, shaping and building every board himself. Quatro became one of windsurfing's most sought-after custom brands, with a three-month waiting list.
Sean's work also went into the rig. Sponsored by Hot Sails Maui and then North Sails, he developed his own signature sails, the Dolphin and the Flame. He tested his ideas in competition, winning the first-ever Cabo Verde World Cup in 1998 and taking second at the 2005 Aloha Classic.
Designing both boards and sails taught him how power moves through the whole system. That knowledge still shapes every board he builds, especially in foiling, where rig and board have to work as one.
